What is its history?

Sahasrara is the seventh and highest chakra. Also known as the crown chakra is it is situated at the crown of the head. Sahasrara means thousand-petaled and represents a thousand-petaled lotus flower. It is usually violet in colour and is associated with thought, enlightenment, wisdom and self-knowledge.

Functions and benefits of working the crown chakra

This chakra is a tricky one to explain. If you have an inactive crown chakra, you may not even realise it. You may feel like you don’t belong, disconnected from society. This chakra is all to do with spiritual awareness and enlightenment. When this chakra is open or well developed you feel connected with everything and everyone.
