Yoga Retreat 27-29 September 2019

A Peaceful Yoga Retreat in the beautiful Devon Countryside

27th to 29th September 2019

Do you sometimes feel that life is running away with you?  It’s a cliché to say that today’s world is hectic and crazy with no time for rest, but it’s also very true.

Everyday life shouldn’t be stressful, but for most of us, it is, to one degree or another.  We all know that stress is bad for us. The fact is, that stress was used by our ancestors to give them the ‘fight or flight’ response when they needed to escape from predators.  It works by causing a surge of hormones in the body including cortisol and adrenalin. This might have been useful for our ancestors, but for us, it can cause high blood pressure, heart disease and even obesity.

Stress can even affect your muscles and joints, and in extreme cases cause illnesses such as Fibromyalgia and other similar conditions. This is partly because stress lowers our pain threshold. Other symptoms can occur in what doctors call the “tension triangle”, the area including your head neck and jaw. Who hasn’t found themselves gritting their teeth and hunching their shoulders in a stressful situation?  I know I have.

Yoga has been shown to increase ‘good’ hormones in the body, to lower physical tension and increase blood flow, carrying oxygen and essential nutrients to the body. It helps us to let go of anxiety and appreciate our own bodies and minds, giving us time to concentrate on ourselves and leave the external world behind.

And what could be better than experiencing this inner peace in a beautiful setting with likeminded people, fresh air and good healthy food?

If this sounds appealing, I am offering a unique Yoga retreat in the beautiful Devon countryside, only 35 minutes from Exeter. The location is Boswell Farm, which is spread over 45 acres of pasture, arable land and woodland.
